Clear writing might be the hardest thing I’ve ever done.

Accurately, the “PURSUIT of clear writing” is tough.

Just think about it. You’re moving an idea from your brain to the reader’s. You’re assuming the reader has a basic understanding of the subject you’re talking about. And you may never know for sure if he understood your intended message.

That’s a tall order. Many get it wrong. I hope I can get better at it.

But the reason I keep writing is a little more selfish. I continue to write because I think it makes me a better person.

Here are 5 benefits I’ve found from writing consistently.

  1. Increased clarity of thoughts. The medium (paper or the computer screen) is the middle ground. I put my thoughts down on paper for you, the reader, to pick up. And, in doing so, I’m hoping your understanding is the same as mine. That is my charge. If you don’t understand, it’s my fault as a writer. That’s not an easy task.
  2. Increased awareness and presence. When you have to write an idea down for others to read, you must first understand it. You first must know it well enough so that you can teach others. This is why teaching something to someone increases
  3. You learn resilience. There are days you love to write and days you don’t. Sometimes, the matter outnumbers the former. The key here is showing up. And in doing that, you become a more resilient person. If it were easy, everyone would do it. And they’re
  4. Enhanced Creativity. Daily writing helps you tap into your creative potential. Regularly putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) encourages you to think outside the box, experiment with new ideas, and develop a unique voice. Over time, this practice can lead to more innovative and original
  5. Improved Communication Skills. Writing regularly can significantly enhance your ability to communicate effectively. It helps you learn to express your thoughts clearly and concisely, which is a valuable skill not only in writing but in all forms of communication. Whether it’s drafting emails, giving presentations, or having everyday conversations, being a clear communicator can have a positive impact on various aspects of your life.

Writing isn’t just a way to share ideas; it makes us better people. It clarifies our thoughts, heightens awareness, builds resilience, sparks creativity, and boosts communication skills. It’s tough but worth it. So let’s keep writing, learning, and growing, one word at a time.
