My Washer Went Down for A Few Days. A Lesson in Not Taking Small Things For Granted.
My washer went down for a few days. Definitely a first world problem. But a problem nonetheless. I didn’t appreciate my washer until it wasn’t working. You can apply this lesson to anything. Slow things down and appreciate some of the seemingly small things you have.
It’s easy to take things for granted. But when they’re gone, even for a little while, you realize how much you need them. So the next time your washer is working or you have running water, take a second to appreciate it. Because you never know when it might go down. Try not to take small things for granted.
Here are some things you can do to help with gratitude for the little things.
- Slow things down.
- Live in the present even if it’s just for a few minutes a day. We’re all busy thinking about everything except what is in front of us.
- Journal about the stuff you’re grateful for.
- Focus on your breathing.
Do whatever helps you slow things down and appreciate life. Because it’s easy to forget how good we have it.
My washer being down was a minor inconvenience. But it made me realize how much I take for granted. We all have things that we take for granted. It doesn’t have to be something big like a car or a house.
